Scroll down to see more Our fourth day we left Lake Arenal and headed down the mountain towards the Caribbean side of Costa Rica to the Selva Verde Lodge near Puerto Viejo. Their web site is www.selvaverde.com .
The day started out with a walk down into the forest in front of Por Dicha. It was very muddy and very overgrown and we didn't get too far before we got all wet and winded. We then headed out and grabbed breakfast at a place called Toad Hall on the dirt road between Nuevo Arenal and La Fortuna. We picked up a lot of nice hand painted things there too.
When we got to Salve Verde we found it to be quite alive
with lots of poison dart frogs, insects & lizards.
Across the street from where we were staying was this tree.
You can see the nests of the Montezuma Oropendula bird hanging from the
limb. This is a female Golden Orb Spider. It was about 3 1/2
to 4 inches across , including it's legs. >> On to San Jose to meet Ali and then the Pacific coast >>
