We Landed at San Pedro Sula and planned to pick up a
rental car at the airport and spend the next two weeks exploring and having fun
in Honduras.
We were ready to fire up the GPS and head out west to Copan near
the Guatemala and El Salvador borders.
Well, getting an Avis rental car in Honduras is a little
different. There were so many dings on the car, a 4 wheel drive, manual 4 door
pickup truck, that the sheet you review was one big scribble. Oh and the right
rear tire was flat! After a small adventure to go to the local Tex-AH-co to fill
up the tire and then back to drop off the very friendly Avis agent, we started
out to the west and quickly discovered what driving in Honduras was really like.
Let's just say, the rules are a bit more relaxed than in most places.
Honduras is a country filled with very warm & friendly people.
In our 2 weeks we saw no frowns or scowls, only smiling and friendly faces.
Every single person that we spoke to was very friendly and eager to help. And much to our surprise it was hotter, more humid and buggier
when we returned to Massachusetts than it was in Honduras.
