Getting to Sydney from Boston: 6 1/2 hrs Boston to Los Angeles plus 14 1/2 hrs Los Angeles to Sydney = 21 hours of flying each way.
Cross the international time line and a whole day just disappears!
Leave BOS 7:45AM Saturday & Arrive Sydney 8:30 AM Monday
Elapsed clock time = 2 days 1 hour 
(on the way back we landed in LA before we left Sydney since we gained that day back crossing the international date line)

We stopped off at Los Angeles and visited with our friends Ron & Jenny from New England and had a great day exploring the Getty Museum and watching the sunset at the end of Sunset Blvd  and strolling along Santa Monica Pier with them.  By the time we boarded the plane to Sydney we were excited but tired enough to sleep pretty well on the flight. As it turned out we arrived in Sydney refreshed and had a lot less jet lag than I expected.

Sydney is a beautiful and very vibrant city. We spent about 3 days in Sydney exploring the city and the areas around it.

While there we took one day and went scuba diving in Botany Bay and were lucky enough to see Weedy Sea Dragons and Cuttlefish
 as well as some great Nudibranch and plenty of fish, large and small.
