Orcas in Johnston Straight between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland.
Orcas (Orcinus orca), or Killer Whales, are actually not whales - they are dolphins... Very large dolphins!

We boated out here (near the rubbing beaches of Robson's Bight) from the Knight Inlet Lodge through some very pretty scenery.
On the way we saw some Sea Lions and a Humpback Whale.
We also visited Telegraph Cove

This Orca had just gone under our boat and resurfaced on the other side.

This was a pod of about 5 or so that approached us from the north

This large male Orca had a fin about 6 feet high

After this we did some exploring and went diving at Quadra Island >>
